Gemini
What is Gemini?
Gemini is a family of artificial intelligence models and a virtual assistant developed by Google.
It can understand text, images, audio, and video, making it a multimodal AI assistant.
My Experience
I've used Gemini quite a lot.
It offers many of the same features as ChatGPT and is easily accessible through Google Search.
Strengths
| Feature | Why it Matters |
|---|---|
| Native Multimodality | Built to understand text, images, audio and video together |
| Google Integration | Works with Gmail, Docs, Drive and Photos |
| Advanced Reasoning | Handles complex research and coding tasks well |
My Thoughts
What I Like
- Strong web integration
- Provides sources for most responses
- Good for research
What I Don't Like
I noticed that Gemini often writes in a much more complex way than necessary.
Sometimes its responses include unnecessary information, making them longer and harder to read.
Its translations also tend to be overly detailed, which can be time-consuming to analyse.
Comparison with ChatGPT
| ChatGPT | Gemini |
|---|---|
| More conversational | More research-focused |
| Easier language | More technical language |
| Doesn't always cite sources | Frequently cites online sources |
Gemini is excellent for research and finding information online, but I personally prefer ChatGPT because its responses feel simpler and more natural.
